Multi-tasking

So, we aren't done with the hall bathroom yet, but I have already moved on to thinking about our next project.  I really can't help myself, I don't know why.  But, we found a good deal on some outdoor dining chairs and had a gift card so we went ahead and got them.  But now I can't stop planning out the changes I want to make to our patio.  It will really have to wait a bit, both for finances and for the weather to cool off, but at some point I want to redo the existing patio and extend it over a little further so we have both dining space and relaxing space.

I love the casual, french countryside look of pea gravel so I am thinking of outlining the patios with cobblestones or brick with a trellis pattern through it, infilled with some form of aggregate.

We just got some metal cafe style chairs and I want the hubs to build a farmhouse style table to pair with them.  Ideally with a tabby or concrete top but we will see.  And one day adding a pergola over this area.

Then for the area that is currently already patio (which we would redo also because the pavers are awful) we would create a sitting area, maybe with a simple, movable firepit.

One day we may get to all of this but for now I will just have to dream!

Happy Monday!  It's going to be a busy week and it would have made for an easier start if I was getting my coffee here!

Holly Mathis Interiors

Holly Mathis has been one of my favorites for years and years.  I first noticed her when her home was featured in Better Homes and Gardens in June of 2005.  Several years later when I discovered blogs I was so surprised and excited to see that she had one!  Her spaces always look polished but comfortable, and I am such a sucker for the airy, cottage style she is famous for.

The May issue of Country Living had a feature on her last home, a rental, which I had been smitten with after seeing some images from it on Instagram.  Love it all, it just seems so warm and cozy and it's easy to imagine feeling at home.  She also recently shared some of the images that weren't used for the feature.  All pictures below from either Country Living or Holly Mathis Interiors.

So beautiful and peaceful.  I feel like living there would be as enveloping as a warm hug.  She now offers classes and one day I fully intend to take a field trip to Texas for one.  And while I'm in the state I'm going to swing by Waco too!

The Year of the Bathroom Refresh

Well, summer has been loads of fun so far but not so much has gotten done project wise.  Which is absolutely fine because the kids are going to grand-parent camp next week so we should have plenty of time to knock some things out.

We are hoping to do a face lift on the main bathroom and redo our closet situation.  Don't know if both will happen but we are ready to go on the bathroom so I think that one should be a knock out.

Here's the plan, much like our master this is just a stop gap measure until we can do a bigger makeover in a few years.  We are going to be painting the vanity navy, adding some pulls/knobs, changing out the countertop to a nicer formica (relative, I know), changing out the mirror, and changing out the light.  Lipstick, friends, all lipstick.

The closet is a little more nebulous as it's likely we won't even have time to get started on it but seeing as my shoes are just a mountain on the floor anything will be an improvement!  Wish us luck!

On the Market

Leah Bailey's home hit the market not too long ago and the interiors are, of course, stunning.  A light, bright pallet with coastal accents, it is everything you would expect of a low country home.  Even though it is an older home it has been clearly opened up and brightened up to suit the modern lifestyle.  Love.

The home before she got her hands on it was very dark and dated, amazing to believe this is the same house!

A beautiful transformation by a very talented designer, now available for a new lucky homeowner!
