Yay! It's that time again! Linda, from Calling It Home, is once again hosting the One Room Challenge. This is a platform allowing us all to follow along as 20 design bloggers redesign a space. She also graciously allows anyone with a blog to link up and share a makeover we complete during the 6 week time frame.
This is my fourth time taking part in the Challenge. Our first foray into the madness was our laundry room, then for our second we redid our front porch, and last fall we freshened up our son's room. This go around we are focusing on our master bath. This is not a full scale renovation but simply a lipstick on the pig kind of situation. It's amazing how far some paint and new fixtures and accessories can go though!
We made a ton of process over this past week which is great since up til then we had accomplished nothing. But we have painted everything that wasn't nailed down along with some that was. Our walls have gotten a fresh coat of a deep charcoal color, the wainscoting and trim is now a clean and soft white, the vanity has gone turquoise, there was even some gold spray paint involved for some lighting and shelf brackets. We are so close to being at the put-everything-back-together point.
So now it's time to get back to reassembling the room and catching up on everyone else's progress this week!

Fresh Start
Our bathroom is a complete mess thanks to making some progress on the One Room Challenge so we are all using the main bathroom. Makes for an interesting experience getting ready. But this bathroom by Darryl Carter would make preparing for work a tranquil breeze!
Happy Monday!

One Room Challenge - Cleaning up the Master Bath - Week 3
In the fall of 2015 we tackled our laundry room, the spring of 2016 was our front porch, and then last fall we freshened up our son's room.
So, we spent all last week, Monday through Friday, in Disney World for the kids' spring break which was great and fun but meant we have accomplished NOTHING! The weekend before was spent packing and preparing and the weekend after was spent recuperating so . . . . . zip, zilch, nada has been done on the room. This weekend we are going to have to hit it hard and heavy with the removal of old elements that aren't remaining and prepping walls and painting EVERYTHING. I am worried.
So, since I have no progress shots I figured I would share some inspiration.
The first two are prior One Room Challenge spaces as well!
Well, that sets some pretty lofty standards but I am hopeful that we can lipstick this pig and have it turn out well! And soon! But until then I am going to go see what everyone else is doing.

One Room Challenge - Cleaning up the Master Bath - Week 2
Well, we survived Spring Break and a week at Disney! But it sure is good to be home. And now we need to make up time!
Yay! It's that time again! Linda, from Calling It Home, is once again hosting the One Room Challenge. This is a platform allowing us all to follow along as 20 design bloggers redesign a space. She also graciously allows anyone with a blog to link up and share a makeover we complete during the 6 week time frame.
This is my fourth time taking part in the ORC. In the fall of 2015 we made over our laundry room, in the spring of 2016 we redid our front porch, and then last fall we freshened up our son's room into a space more reflective of him.
This time around we chose to do a cosmetic refresh of our master bath. We had started a few improvements to the space since we moved in but never made even finishing those a priority. So the bathroom has been sitting kind of half finished, maybe a quarter, since we moved in. Hopefully this will be the push we need to finish up with our hippie-glam space.
I thought we had pictures of the bathroom from before we moved in, but I can't find any that show the lovely sponge painted walls that were there from the prior owners. Nor can I find any from our first round of makeover when we added bead board and a light gray paint that turned out to be purple.
But here are some from the other day, we have added the bead board, and started in on painting the walls a deep gray.
Now we just need to finish those walls, give the trim a nice unified coat of white, paint the vanity turquoise, add some new hardware, get the light fixtures up, get the new towel rods, shower curtain, etc up, and some shelves and art and accessories. Whew, I'm exhausted just typing it.
So now I may take a break and check in on how everyone else is doing! Good luck everyone!

Paris dreams
Well, it's Monday again, and I should be working on the One Room Challenge. But instead I am dreaming of Paris, wishing I were actually soaking up the good vibes rather than just channeling them into the new master bath.
Hope everyone has a successful week!

One Room Challenge - Cleaning up the Master Bath - Week 1
Yay! It's that time again! Linda, from Calling It Home, is once again hosting the One Room Challenge. This is a platform allowing us all to follow along as 20 design bloggers redesign a space. She also graciously allows anyone with a blog to link up and share a makeover we complete during the 6 week time frame.

This time around we are going to do a cosmetic makeover of our master bathroom. We have a lot going on this spring, between spring break, kids baseball, and work so we need something that will hopefully provide a lot of impact without as much physical labor. Several years ago we added some bead board paneling to the space which improved its looks but we never fully finished up our plans for the space. Last fall we picked up some dark paint in the oops section of Home Depot that we started putting on the walls over Christmas. Unfortunately we only made it through half the bath though so the "water closet" will be getting its coat now. We are going to finish changing out and installing hardware, paint the vanity turquoise, and add some shelves, art and accessories. Lipstick on the pig in other words.
Here's what I'm going for.
I love the look of dark walls with white paneling and think the turquoise vanity will really pop against it. Brass hardware and lighting with oil rubbed bronze fixtures will glam it up a little while a slightly hippy vibe in the accessories should keep it from veering to far from the casual vibe I love.
Until then I'll be checking out all the other talented work that is showing up this time around!
