New spaces by Holly Mathis!

I love Holly Mathis's designs, pretty sure I have mentioned that before, and I totally understand the why's but I am so sad that she doesn't blog as much as she used to.  BUT!  Her portfolio has been updated to include some new work!  And these projects are GOOOOOOOD!  All of these photos are from her portfolio.

Her Small Town Victorian, I remember seeing a few glimpses of this one on Instagram maybe.

 And the Memorial Refresh.

I love how finished and just, pretty, all her spaces are.  And they are approachable, it really feels like families live there, they aren't just show houses.  They are aspirational but reachable!

The Blue Room

There is something about the change in seasons that makes me (and probably lots of other people) want to spruce up my wardrobe.  It is especially bad in fall, possibly because I love all the sweaters and boots I am going to be wearing soon.  Or maybe it's the novelty of cooler weather.  Here in the southeast of Georgia it is really kind of summer for 8 months out of the year.

That being said I have been doing more clothes shopping than usual lately and as I was looking at everything in my closet I realized I have a fixation on blue clothing.  And as I was thinking about that I realized I tend to decorate with a lot of blue as well.  Which made me wonder if I had internalized something I read a long time ago, I think in House Beautiful, where a designer had mentioned that you should always do your rooms in colors that look good on you so you will always look your best in your home.  Maybe there's a connection.  Who knows, but I do know that there is a lot of blue in my house and my wardrobe!

On that note, some blue spaces that I especially like:

All I know is these rooms sure don't make me blue!

A Home with Heart

One of the downsides to working in real estate is the constant comparison of my home to others, but one of the upsides is near constant inspiration.  We have tons of historic homes here and I love looking to them for ideas because they are so full of charm and character.  Recently I came across one in an historic district that really spoke to me.  The serene colors, the moldings, the high ceilings, the built-ins all combine to make a beautiful home, and it has been decorated very appropriately for its age and stature.  Way outside my price range of course, but still. . . . .

I know that a house doesn't make a person, that a person makes a home, and all of that, but man, I feel like I could be my very best self right there!
